| Weekend of 28/12, 6/12 2008 | | | 1st Grade – Great win by the senior Bushmen on Saturday in stifling heat against a very committed Logan Village who took it right up to us. Butts buttered up with 3 poles, Blakey 2 and with the bat a late call up to Dan the waxed up, buffed up man paid dividends with a well compiled 63, not to be outdone Swanny back form Queensland Country Rep duties racked up 46 not out and got us over the line chasing 171 for victory, did it with 7 wickets in hand and 11 balls up the sleeve. Back on top of the ladder to boot!
2nd Grade – Hinzey turned 40 last week and looked like a man in his 50s Saturday night –Outright win last game and 1 day loss this. The Miller clan served up 3 wickets each with TJ back from Phukett and Daley back from Captain Snooze both bowling well but a missed chance or 2 let Palmy off the hook and we couldn’t run them down. 3rd Grade – the red team, despite their imperial leader Steve Lye being holed up in a Bangkok Prison, sorry make that 5 star hotel sipping on cocktails by the pool for an extra few days managed to rack up an outright win against the Helensvale Hawks. Under the guidance of Lydon Gibbons a super result from a very even team effort was recorded placing the reds on top 1 game clear. The Blue Baggers went up to Loganholme and came back with a loss. The team was stripped of batting strength due to a couple of late changes but some really positive batting from late call up Fraser Gregor and the ever improving, ever growing Shannon Patterson. This kid is knocking on the door big time and a really big score is on the cards. Aaron Alston 3 & Craig Lawler 2 wickets were the pick Deano tells us from the bowling department. Sitting in 4th place and playing Southport this week who are 2nd
4th Grade – Sharkeys boys got Rolled- Chasing 202 we fell about 50 short. Sharkey tried everything including using 10 bowlers. Jared King made 40 with the bat in a stand out performance; extras came in next with 30 so time to bounce back this week
5th Grade – Red team had a dignified loss with 2 youngsters Tom Cooper 29 and Daniel Girvin 27 top scorers and Jason Bourne 3/14 chipping in with the ball. A very young side on the park and they are having a good time learning the trade The Blue team scored a much needed win with the evergreen Rob Gula 56 and Aldo 52 helping us run down the 193 required for victory.
